Mani means peanut or groundnut in Argentine Spanish, where we source all our peanuts from. And life because we're all about making people happy and we believe our products to be life-changingly-lip-smackingly delicious!
We work really closely with our farmers to ensure they follow the best practices to sustainably produce what we believe to be the world’s finest peanuts! Given the Argentine climate it is pretty difficult to efficiently grow organic peanuts there, but it is something that we are working on.
Our farm follows the organic processes as closely as possible and is doing everything they can to limit the need for pesticides, including rotating crops every few years to improve soil conditions and increase efficiency without the need for fertiliser.
Because the people behind the product are as important to us as the product itself. In short, we don’t know any almond or cashew farmer but we do know a couple of really really great peanut farmers! We’ve got a lot of work still to do with them before we start gallivanting round almond farms.
We've been told over and over again that fats are bad. Well this isn't always true! The fat found in hi-oleic peanuts known as Oleic Acid, is a monounsaturated fatty acid which is considered a 'good' plant-based fat. This means hi-oleic peanuts are similar to olive oil and avocados in that the contents of monounsaturated fat can actually contribute to a healthy cholesterol.
And just so you know the fat in our peanut butter sticks around: 81% mono-unsaturated, 5% poly-unsaturated, 14% saturated 0% trans. Boom
Yes! All our products are completely vegan and vegetarian friendly. Our peanut butters are made with peanuts and wee pinch of sea salt.
Yes! All of our products are gluten free. Our peanut butters are made with peanuts and a wee pinch of sea salt. However they are made in a site that handles gluten and other allergens. Whilst our founder Stu’s mother in law is Coeliac and braves it (thus far no problems!) he’s not able to tell her there never will be.
2 reasons for this:
All our products have a 365 day shelf life from date of production. Our aim is that products reach the customer with at least 6 month shelf life remaining. The product will be safe to consume anytime during this period (and probably long after too, but that’s up to you)!. We recommend consuming within 3 months of opening. Shouldn't be too difficult!
Over time separation of the oil may occur, but this can be stirred back into the paste to restore the original texture – the longer it’s left the longer you need to stir it but we promise it will go back.
Other tips whilst you’re here:
Yes our packaging is completely recyclable. Please contact your local authority to understand what can be recycled in your area. If your local authority does not recycle this material at the roadside then you should be able to dispose of plastic products at many UK supermarket banks and refuse centres.
Nonetheless, we are currently in the process of making the switch back to glass. It’s taking slightly longer than we’d hoped but it is very much on the horizon!
We get asked this all the time and we are currently in the process of making the switch back to glass. It’s taking slightly longer than we’d hoped but it is very much on the horizon! The original move away from glass came because Stu could no longer sterilise the glass jars we were buying in his mother’s dishwasher.
We also always endeavour to use as little packaging as possible and to ensure what packaging we do use is totally recyclable.
Please email stu@mani-life.com. It’s really helpful if you include your order number so that we can help you as quickly as possible!
