In 2014, Stu quit accountancy and flew to Argentina. He found the world's best peanuts, imported a tonne of them and accidentally invented a flavour category that didn't exist yet.
Stu ditches the spreadsheets
Stu ditches accountancy and flies to Argentina, where he discovers peanut butter can be so much more than a toast topping. He starts roasting and blending in a mate's kitchen. The obsession begins.
One tonne, one bedroom, zero plan
He finds the best peanuts on the planet from a single family farm in Argentina - the same estate ManiLife sources from today. Imports a literal tonne, then his manufacturer bails on day one. 45 mates, a rugby club kitchen, 4,000 jars. One at a time.
FROM 'STU'S PEANUT BUTTER' TO MANILIFE
Turns out calling it 'Stu’s Peanut Butter' didn’t scream cult brand. So we renamed it ManiLife: "maní" = peanut in Argentina, "life" = the joy it brings. Google kept thinking we were a Canadian finance firm called ManuLife. Took a while… but we won.

Gousto, love and logistics
ManiLife wins its first Great Taste Award - proof it wasn't just Stu being biased. That same year, Gousto places a last-minute order for 9,000 mini pots and the team packs through the night. Stu meets Saz, now his wife. Peanut butter: great matchmaker.
From rugby club to cult status
Waitrose takes Mani mainstream and the DIY kitchen setup becomes a 15,000 sq ft factory. Still small-batch, still single-origin, still roasting low and slow. Because once you've tasted peanut butter done properly, there's no going back.
Still spreading the good stuff
19 awards and still only 2 ingredients - peanuts and sea salt, same as the very first jar from that rugby club kitchen. We started with a blender in a mate's kitchen and we're still doing things the hard but better way. Small batches. Big flavour. ManiLife's just getting warmed up.

At MANILIFE, we keep things simple and high quality. Our peanut butter is made from carefully sourced peanuts with no palm oil and no unnecessary additives.
Because we focus on quality over shortcuts, our process is more expensive than typical supermarket brands, which often use cheaper ingredients or added oils to cut costs.
The higher price reflects the ingredients and care that go into every jar, giving you better taste and quality overall.
Deep Roast happened by accident. We thought we burned the peanuts, but when we tasted them, they were actually better.
Roasting them longer brings out a stronger, richer flavour. It’s the same reason toast and coffee taste better when roasted right.
What started as a mistake is now what makes our peanut butter different.
Yes, this is completely normal. We don’t add palm oil or anything to stop it from separating. Peanuts naturally release oil, so it rises to the top over time.
We also make our peanut butter in small batches, which makes it creamier but less thick than mass produced ones. Just give it a good stir and it’ll go back to normal.
Delivery usually takes 2 to 3 days across most of the UK. Some areas like parts of Scotland and offshore islands may take longer. We offer free delivery on orders over £25 to the UK mainland, excluding the Isle of Wight and Scottish Highlands. Right now, we only ship within the UK. If you want to return something, it must be unopened and in the same condition. Once opened, it can’t be returned unless there’s a problem. If there is, we’ll cover the return postage.
We recommend eating it within 3 months after opening.
Our peanut butter lasts 365 days from when it’s made, and we make sure you get it with at least 6 months left.
Oil may separate over time, but just stir it and it’ll go back to its normal texture.
